Office of Retirement Services Information
The State of Michigan has made some changes to the Public School Employees’ Retirement System. These changes will affect ALL employees in some way. Action will be required on your part.
If you became a member of the retirement system before July 1, 2010, you will have to make decisions now regarding your pension and retiree health care.
For employees that became members after July 1, 2010, you will need to make a decision now just about retiree health care.
If you have not done so already, please log into your MiAccount and make sure all of your contact information is correct and make any necessary changes. Please click on this link to access the MiAccount page https://ssprd.state.mi.us/wss/security/login.do?method=showLogin&retirementSystemId=1030. This is your retirement account with the State of Michigan. Please contact the Office of Retirement Services (ORS) with any questions or concerns using the MiAccount website. The ORS can be reached at (800) 381-5111 Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Beginning September 4, 2012 and no later than 5:00 p.m. EDT, Friday, October 26, 2012, you will need to log into your MiAccount again and make your selections. Attached is a summary of the Senate bill 1040 (2012). It outlines the options available.
